The Workers Compensation Board has indicated that some work environments have a significantly higher exposure risk than others. If you are an employee who is working closely with the public in locations where COVID-19 exposure is documented and are ultimately diagnosed with COVID-19, we can argue that your exposure risk makes it more likely that your diagnosis is directly work related. The Board has outlined examples of these types of employment including:
- Health care workers
- First responders
- Transportation workers
- Corrections officers
- Food service workers
- Retail workers
Regardless of whether you fall into one of these categories, you may be able to receive workers compensation benefits if your exposure likely occurred at your place of employment. Our office can review your claim and assist you in the process.
